Called to follow Jesus into the world

God calls us to join him as he builds his church – to take the gospel to the whole world, to serve the least and the lost, and to practice our faith in our communities. God longs for servant-leaders who are bold enough to proclaim the gospel not only with their voices but with their lives. We long to see God make all things new and see his kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

We are thrilled to announce that Missio Seminary is now a legacy partner of Kairos University! This exciting partnership represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide accessible, affordable, and high-quality theological education while preserving and enriching Missio’s rich heritage.

Through this deeply collaborative partnership, students have access to Kairos University’s programs and learning experiences, which are some of the most affordable accredited degree programs in the United States! This means students can take advantage of monthly tuition that is approximately 75% lower than the national average—all while receiving the support of a mentor team and staying engaged with the Missio Seminary and Philadelphia communities!

A purpose bigger than us all

Being missional means we participate in God’s mission of hope, healing, restoration, and reconciliation.

Being missional means we believe in God’s narrative of timeless and transformative truths found in the Bible.

Being missional means we respond to God’s great purpose of working through ordinary individuals to make an extraordinary difference in our neighborhoods and around the world.

Therefore, Missio Seminary trains and equips leaders to be missionally-minded and to be better prepared to serve in God’s mission of redemption and restoration—his purpose that is bigger and beyond all of us—to follow Jesus into the world.

Theology for a messy world

We believe theology is applicable beyond the classroom and best realized when its truth is embodied in the context of people, places, and in the midst of the messiness of life and culture. Our biblical training is practical and contextual, preparing leaders to serve God in today’s fast-paced and ever changing world. Located in the heart of Philadelphia, we combine theology with practical ministry training to serve those in our city and around the world.

Unity in diversity

We don’t expect our professors and students to agree on everything. We encourage diversity, dialogue, and discovery. As a non-denominational school, we welcome students of diverse denominational, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds from around the globe. We believe that the mission of Christ is strengthened through those not afraid to ask questions and inquire beyond the status quo. There are no cookie-cutter students at Missio, only committed followers of Jesus, working to authentically follow Jesus into the world.

PULPIT Program Testimonial

“Journeying thru this life can be overwhelming as one seeks to accomplish the ongoing tasks of meeting deadlines after deadlines. The feeling of, “I am obligated to do this and/or to do that” equally can weigh upon an individual’s wellness. This includes the mental, emotional, physical, and yes, the spiritual health. Since becoming a student of Missio’s PULPIT program these elements of my life became more apparent and revealing to me. I will admit, it was tough to see that part of myself in itself, but the programs leadership cohorts and retreats have been institutional in bringing it to light!

I recently attended the Spring semester retreat, “Spiritual Formation & Self Care” in June 2021 which was rewarding and enriching for the soul. From the preached word from Dr. Pointer to our last session on Self-care by Dr. Michael Heath the retreat opened me up where I became self-transparent. It allowed me to see the areas where I am hard on myself, and what I lack in self-care. Each presenter was able to illuminate God’s word, which helped me gain an in-depth outlook of Jesus’ intention, especially when it came to rest. Studying out of the Gospels, we witnessed Jesus taking the time to rest prior to going forward to engage in ministry. Jesus is okay with us resting also! When we are able to take a break and rest, then Jesus can and will get the best out of us! He will get the joy out of our lives!  I am grateful for this privileged opportunity to be part of Missio’s PULPIT program, in Jesus Name!”

-Rev. Michael H Lee Jr.
