PULPIT Program Testimonial

“Journeying thru this life can be overwhelming as one seeks to accomplish the ongoing tasks of meeting deadlines after deadlines. The feeling of, “I am obligated to do this and/or to do that” equally can weigh upon an individual’s wellness. This includes the mental, emotional, physical, and yes, the spiritual health. Since becoming a student of Missio’s PULPIT program these elements of my life became more apparent and revealing to me. I will admit, it was tough to see that part of myself in itself, but the programs leadership cohorts and retreats have been institutional in bringing it to light!

I recently attended the Spring semester retreat, “Spiritual Formation & Self Care” in June 2021 which was rewarding and enriching for the soul. From the preached word from Dr. Pointer to our last session on Self-care by Dr. Michael Heath the retreat opened me up where I became self-transparent. It allowed me to see the areas where I am hard on myself, and what I lack in self-care. Each presenter was able to illuminate God’s word, which helped me gain an in-depth outlook of Jesus’ intention, especially when it came to rest. Studying out of the Gospels, we witnessed Jesus taking the time to rest prior to going forward to engage in ministry. Jesus is okay with us resting also! When we are able to take a break and rest, then Jesus can and will get the best out of us! He will get the joy out of our lives!  I am grateful for this privileged opportunity to be part of Missio’s PULPIT program, in Jesus Name!”
