Celebrating the Graduate School of Counseling (GSOC)
“As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” (John 20:21)
We’re all in the midst of a season of collective trauma. We’re facing a mental health crisis, racial injustice, and social unrest, and yet God is still present and still at work. The purpose for this webinar is to pause, recognize, and celebrate the ways in which God has and is working through Missio counseling students and alums as we celebrate our 50th anniversary.

Vision Cast for Future & Concluding Comments
Jesus announced his public ministry by reading a portion of Isaiah. He said he came to “proclaim good news to the poor… to proclaim liberty to the captives… to set at liberty those who are oppressed…” (Luke 4:18, ESV). We consider it a privilege to celebrate how God is working through individuals trained through Missio’s GSOC. We look forward to continuing to strengthen the program in order to continue sending out counselors prepared to address spiritual, mental, and emotional needs of their clients, ministries, and communities.

I am thrilled to see and be part of the movement of God as we serve Christ together in this broken world as BTS/MISSIO Counseling Grads! Luke 4:18 – YES!
This presentation served as a greater & personal confirmation for my life as a perspective student starting this Fall 2021 at Missio Seminary that God’s magnificent mandate is to receive us, restore us, equip us, heal us, & send us. The aspect of sending us back “to the street’s” as mentioned by Rev. Guyton resonated with me because for many in “the community” “the hood” the street is their sacred space. It’s the only space they know, relate to, feel comfortable in & can communicate their needs from a traumatized & broken perspective in their own language. We need counselors to understand the language of the streets along with the language of the saints to combine “sacred” “secure” spaces to learn the Biblical language of acceptance, acclimation, assurance & Agape Love. The God kind of love that lifts their sorrows & heals all their diseases whether physical, mental or Spiritual. What an exciting time to be a perspective student! I have my seat belt on and ready for the journey. Thank you for this!!!
