Frequently Asked Questions
What are the deadlines for submitting an application?
The admissions office accepts applications on a “rolling” basis. This means that you can apply at any time during the year and enter a degree program at the beginning of any of our terms. The MA in Counseling program is an exception and is set up as Cohort program and typically only enrolls in the fall.
Do you require any specialized testing for the application process?
We do not require any specialized testing such as the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) for our admissions process. We believe that our application requirements give us the necessary information about our applicants to make a sound decision about their admission to Missio.
What is your response time to a completed application?
Once an application is completed the applicant will receive an email from admissions indicating that their application has been submitted. The applicant should expect to hear from someone in admissions in less than seven business days regarding their application.
What is your policy regarding transferring students?
Transfer credit may be granted to qualified students for courses completed at other accredited graduate institutions. When requesting transfer credit, you must provide official transcripts of prior work. You may be asked to provide course descriptions from a catalog or syllabus. Grades must be C (2.0) or higher to be considered.
Transfer credit is evaluated by the director of academic services and is credited after the successful completion of 9 credit hours at the seminary.
Missio does not offer graduate credit for personal ministry experiences, including, but not limited to, missions trips sponsored by churches or other organizations.
Students may not transfer more than one-half of the credits needed to complete a program at Missio. MA students must take at least one-half of the courses in their field of concentration at Missio, while MDiv students will normally be required to take at least one-half of the required courses in each of the major divisions (Old Testament, New Testament, theology, and practical theology) at Missio.
Normally, transfer credits are accepted only for courses completed before matriculation to Missio Seminary. Accepting transfer credits is at the discretion of the academic office, based on the above criteria and the correspondence of classes to the seminary’s curriculum.
Missio Seminary admits students of any race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities accorded or made available to students. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, or ethnic origin in the administration of our educational policies, scholarships, loan programs, and other school-administered programs.

Homestay Program
Become a Homestay Host
Missio Seminary is eager to recruit qualified, Christ-centered homestay family partners for our international students.
Through this golden opportunity, our international students will have a chance to learn about many American cultural practices by partaking in family traditions. Homestaying will also provide safe learning environments to try out new English words and practice the English language. Living in a family environment can help our international students learn how Americans live out the gospel in their daily lives.
Our suggested monthly homestay price, including utilities and internet, is as follows–though you may negotiate it with the individual student(s).
- $500 – no meals
- $700 – one meal per day
- $800 – two meals per day
- $900 – three meals per day
Please use the buttons below to download and fill out the application and then submit it via email (and any photos you wish to include). Your listing to be posted on a private page that’s accessible only by Missio students. All arrangements are to be made directly between students and homestay hosts, without the involvement of Missio. NOTE: Homestay listings remain posted to the private page until you contact us to have them removed.

Admissions
Ministries come in all shapes and sizes
One thing remains constant… the desire to reach people. As the challenges of ministry change, the core goals for our students remain the same:
- Train missional leaders who facilitate entrepreneurial innovation and
encourage thoughtful dialogue in a culturally diverse, inter-denominational context - Promote unity and relationships through an interactive classroom experience
These distinct features are why numerous students have chosen Missio Seminary to successfully improve their current ministries and start new ones.
Following Jesus into the World
Steps To Becoming A Missio Student
1) Check Qualifications
Missio is a graduate institution so all of our programs require a completed undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. An exemption may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Please note some of our advanced programs have additional qualifications.
2) Choose a Program That’s Right for You
You may already have a specific program in mind to start, or you may still be trying to discern your calling. Now is the time to see how we can help you achieve your learning goals. Please browse our website, talk to an admissions team member, schedule a visit to our campus and meet our dedicated faculty.
Theology / Bible
Master of Divinity (MDiv)
Doctor of Ministry (DMin)
Master of Arts (MA)
3) Complete and Submit Application
Prospective students are invited to submit an application for admission up to one year in advance of anticipated enrollment. We request that all applications are submitted and completed no later than one month in advance of anticipated enrollment.
When using our online application, you will be prompted to create an account prior to beginning the process. This allows you to save your progress and return to the online system at a later date to upload forms and documents that you have completed.
Please reach out to our admissions staff who can help you with any questions you may have.
4) Look Into Financial Aid
Missio will work with you to create a financial aid plan that will help you realize your educational goals. We do this through various student payment plans and through a variety of financial aid opportunities including scholarships, grants, discounts, and federal student loans.
Before applying for financial aid, you should assess your personal financial situation, including funds saved for education and your support network. A support network may include your home church, denomination, people to whom you have ministered, friends, family, clubs, and foundations.
We also believe no qualified student should be discouraged from pursuing seminary for merely financial reasons. We have established our financial aid program to supplement your financial resources.
For any questions about student aid or federal loans, please reach out to fa@missio.edu.
5) Confirm Your Admission
Congratulations on being accepted to Missio Seminary. Your acceptance letter will be sent to you and it will contain your Student ID number. Your admissions counselor will be in contact with you regarding orientation.
Now that you have been admitted into one of our programs, there are still a few steps to complete prior to attending classes.
- You will work with your admissions counselor and the academic department to enroll in the proper classes.
- Arrange a payment plan with our business office.
Once the above steps are completed, you will receive your login information and be granted access to our e-campus system. Everything you will need as a student is located on the e-campus homepage. In addition, you will also be automatically enrolled in our NC100 Orientation course that will guide you through using the e-campus system to submit assignments and participate in class discussions.
6) Start at Missio
Work with your admissions counselor to register for classes, login to e-campus and check the academic calendar, and prepare to meet your fellow students.
