We are thrilled to share that after a three-year integration process, Missio Seminary is now a legacy partner of Kairos University. This update represents a significant step forward in our mission to follow Jesus into the world. Through this partnership, we are providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality theological education while preserving and enhancing our rich heritage.
Our journey with Kairos began in February 2023 when the board of trustees voted unanimously to begin a process of deeper collaboration with Kairos University. Committed to moving forward together, we explored pathways to offer theological education in new and innovative ways while honoring the work God has done in and through both of our institutions.
Now, students can take advantage of some of the most affordable and contextually relevant programs in the United States and Canada. Tuition is now 75% lower than the national average, and all students are supported by a mentor team throughout the educational journey.
We are excited about the doors God will open both in Philadelphia and globally through our legacy partnership with Kairos University. About this partnership, Dr. Clarence E. Wright, Missio Seminary President and Clemens Professor of Missional Theology, remarked, “In this moment, I am in awe how God has brought Missio Seminary and Kairos University together. It is abundantly clear we are better together. Together, we are better stewards of the resources God has provided; together, we offer pathways to affordability previously not possible. It has been a long road, but we stand now embracing this moment, and our God stands with us as we continue to follow Jesus into the world.”
As a legacy partner of Kairos University, Missio Seminary will remain deeply committed to its foundational values and traditions. Our legacy of academic excellence, missional theology, spiritual formation, and community engagement will be honored and made available to a wider array of students. New ways to serve the Missio community and individuals in the greater Philadelphia area are already emerging!
Through the legacy partnership, Missio’s commitments are embedded within and give shape to every program at Kairos University. As a result, students have access to everything from bachelor’s degrees to master’s and doctoral degrees. In addition, students become part of a global learning community that extends to every continent in the world.
