Missio Seminary and the Millen family have been closely linked since Pat Millen (MA ’07) became a student in Missio’s Graduate School of Counseling. Since then, both her daughter Marianne Millen Carlson (MA ’14) and her son Matthew Millen (MDiv ’17) have each graduated from Missio. Marianne then went to Wheaton College where she earned a PsyD degree. Matthew, who is also a practicing attorney, is pastor of Cornerstone Church in Easton.
Three years ago, Missio quietly launched its REALChange Campaign, our effort to raise $5.8 million for scholarships, assist in meeting the transition costs with the school’s move to Philadelphia, and serve the broader church through the seminary’s innovative PULPIT program (Program for Urban Leaders and Pastors in Transition).
We are deeply grateful that Pat and her husband Matt accepted our invitation to become Honorary Co-Chairs of the REALChange campaign, which has already raised 70% of its goal!
Matt, of course, had a stellar career in the NFL, earning four Super Bowl rings while playing for the Oakland Raiders, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Washington Football Team. We asked Matt to tell us why he and Pat are committed to the mission of the seminary. He took a few minutes away from his wood shop (he’s a master craftsman!) to speak with us.
