Biography
Dr. Proctor earned his Doctorate in Education at the Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He has a M.Ed. from Temple University and a BA in English with a concentration in Business and Technical Writing from the University of Delaware. He has worked as a Speech Writer to the first female President of the University of Pennsylvania, Director of Multicultural Recruitment at the University of Pennsylvania and as the Executive Administrator and Youth Pastor of a large, urban church in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Proctor’s fields of study include the recruitment and retention of African American undergraduate students at Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs), nonprofit management and administration. He has significant training in assisting organizations across the country obtain their 501c3 designation with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). His interest focuses on newly formed nonprofit organizations who need guidance in providing programs and services. In addition, he is interested in how nonprofit organizations stay in compliance with all federal, state and local filings, laws and regulations.
As the CEO and Founder of Wesley Proctor Ministries, Inc., (WPM), Dr. Proctor has been dedicated to using his education and nonprofit expertise to help individuals and businesses across the globe. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Proctor’s organization Wesley Proctor Ministries, Inc. (WPM) has been a vital resource in helping to establish over 1,000 nonprofits in the Philadelphia region and around the country. Some of his clients include professional athletes, pastors, community leaders, leaders of mentor & youth organizations, education programs, foundations, and more. Through (WPM), he also provides yearly consultations, workshops, and seminars on the 501(c)3 and nonprofits. His proven track record in this area has garnered him much respect in the city of Philadelphia and around the country as being the “go-to guy” for obtaining your 501(c)3 status. He has been recognized both citywide and nationally for his work in this area. Most recently, he was awarded the, “KYW Newsradio GameChanger Award,” a citywide recognition given for his nonprofit work in communities of color in Philadelphia.
Along with his nonprofit service in the community, Dr. Proctor also serves as an Assistant Teaching Professor at Villanova University. There he teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in Nonprofit Management. As a highly decorated professional, Dr. Proctor is continuously sought after for his reputation in the field. He has served on several nonprofit boards including, Philadelphia Futures, Inc. (a union of White Williams Scholars and one of the largest nonprofits in the city of Philadelphia), and Conquerors Community Development Corporation. Recently, he was appointed to serve as a Board Member of The Brian Westbrook Foundation and Cornerstone Christian Academy.
