Missio Seminary has an immediate opening for a Director of Library Services
The Director of Library Services brings to the position professional training and expertise in library information science and a thorough knowledge of the distinctive kinds of library resources and services involved in theological education. It is the task of the Director to supervise the resources of Missio Seminary Library and to interpret to the library’s clientele the library’s potential for supporting the various aspects of the Seminary’s program. The Director is responsible for formulating and administering library policies and services, all of which should foster the most extensive and meaningful use of the library, both by the immediate seminary community and by the broader academic and Christian communities. The Director, in conjunction and in consultation with the library committee (a faculty committee) represents the needs of the library and its services to the Academic Dean, the Faculty, and the broader seminary community.
Required Qualifications:
- Be a committed Christian who desires to help Missio Seminary achieve its mission of
preparing leaders to follow Jesus into the world - Attentiveness to detail
- Expertise in accessing information, knowledge bases, scholarly resources, and utilizing library management platforms (OCLC/WMS or similar system)
- General knowledge of academic resources (digital and print) necessary for training missional leaders
- Competent relational and communication skills including class presentations on information literacy
- Preferably: Master’s level degrees in theology/ministerial training (e.g., MDiv) or library science (i.e., MLS) or demonstrable equivalents
- Desire to shape creative and innovative solutions to information and resource retrieval and access in a technologically advanced age
This is a part-time (30 hours per week – Monday thru Thursday on campus) position. This position is eligible for benefits
