PULPIT (Program for Urban Leaders and Pastors in Transition), funded by a grant from the Lilly Endowment’s Thriving in Ministry Initiative, will equip urban pastors in Philadelphia and beyond with effective strategies to thrive personally and professionally by addressing urban leadership issues (e.g. gentrification, increasing immigrant and refugee populations, socio-economic changes, and issues of social justice), strengthening their inner lives (spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional health), and facilitating the development of healthy support systems. This 2-year program is aimed toward strengthening, equipping, and supporting urban pastors in the city of Philadelphia leading to healthier churches and increase effective cooperation among the pastoral leaders in the city. PULPIT will involve multiple opportunities for expert teaching/training, small group learning, multi-generational cohort-based peer groups, and individual activities.

The Senior PULPIT Fellow will work with and assist the Program Director to ensure the overall success of PULPIT. The Senior PULPIT Fellow will develop and assist in the effective implementation of all PULPIT program modules, training, curriculum, and assessment. This will include:

  • Develop curriculum for all modules, cohort meetings, trainings
  • Assist with training Program leaders at the yearly training day and throughout the year
  • Assist with identifying and approving all assessment tools used for both program and participant evaluation
  • Assist the Program Director in evaluating the overall effectiveness of the program
  • Attend program retreats, trainings, and leadership meetings
  • Actively serve as a member of the PULPIT leadership Team
  • Work with the Program Director to ensure that all reporting to the Foundation is accurate
  • Serve as a sounding board and provide guidance to Program Director
