Immediate Job Opening in the Graduate School of Counseling (GSOC)

The Graduate Counseling Program at Missio Seminary is seeking a full-time, 12-month, 3-year rolling contract, assistant or associate professor beginning July 1, 2019 with the qualifications to teach across the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.

Institution Information

Missio is a graduate institution located in the greater metropolitan area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania offering a variety of degrees training students for diverse types of ministry: Master of Arts, Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, Doctor of Ministry. The GSOC houses our Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) program, our Certificate in Christian Counseling (CCC), our Certificate in Advanced Professional Counseling (CAPC), and the Global Trauma Recovery Institute (GTRI). The MAC program is cohort-based and has both a two-year non-licensure track and a three-year licensure track. Our goal is to prepare Christian counselors for professional and non-professional ministry who love people in all their God-given diversity, who engage science and culture with wisdom and discernment, and who skillfully apply the grace and truth of the Gospel first to their own lives and then to their counselees.

Qualifications

  1. A master’s degree in counseling, theology, divinity or closely related.
  2. PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program is required
  3. Hold or are eligible for licensure as a professional counselor in Pennsylvania (or eligible for PA
    Licensure)
  4. Been employed as full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2019 (e.g., tenure-track, non-tenure track, adjunct)
  5. Evidence of strong supervision skills, scholarly research, and quality teaching and clinical experience is required
  6. A strong background in multiculturalism, diversity, theological and biblical foundations, and a strong teaching, supervision and clinical record are also required.
  7. Experience in and passion for online instruction and electronic technologies
  8. Ability to work collaboratively with department faculty and staff members and national, state, regional and local professional counseling associations as well as seminary constituencies

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  1. Teaching graduate-level courses at the master’s level in the areas of curricular experience
    required by CACREP
  2. Supervising practicum and internship experiences
  3. Advising master’s level students
  4. Engaging in scholarly activities
  5. Providing service to the department, the seminary, and the counseling profession at the state,
    regional and/or national level

This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
